Excerpt from the European Commission Green Book on corporate social responsibility“…being socially responsible not only signifies fully satisfying all applicable legal obligations but also going beyond, and investing more fully in human capital, the environment and relations with involved parties… This approach opens a path which leads to being able to manage change and reconcile social development and greater competitiveness”.
GESAC is fully in agreement with the guidelines established by the European Community in the Green Book and has assumed the concept of social responsibility as a defining characteristic and absolute priority in all of internal and external operations.
The primary objective of GESAC is to be Italy’s best airport management company.
In the performance of all activities, GESAC priorities are:
- The quality of services and continuous improvement;
- Safety and security;
- Environmental awareness.
For this reason, in 2005, GESAC adopted a Quality, Safety, Security and Environmental Policy which serves as the basis for all corporate activities.
Quality, Safety, Security and Environmental Policy
Attaining levels of excellence in airport management, the final objective of all of corporate efforts and activities, can only be realised through completely satisfying the needs and expectations of passengers and airport users and in safeguarding their safety and security..
This can only be achieved in full respect of the environment and all the rules and regulations governing our sector.
Our commitment is aimed at continuous improvement through:
- An offer of the highest quality services based upon the needs of passengers, the true point of reference for our activities;
- Continuous monitoring and reduction of the environmental impact of airport activities;
- Ensuring maximum levels of safety and security in all corporate processes, a decrease in the number of incidental events and safeguarding the well-being of passengers and airport users;
- Maintaining good relations with airport operators, airlines, suppliers and the surrounding communities, based upon a shared, common vision of the manner in which we, as a company, operate.
Our Corporate Management System, which aspires to the highest international standards for the management of safety and security, environmental and service quality.
We, in GESAC, are all committed to operating in full respect of this policy and to applying this policy on a daily basis in the continuous effort to seekout opportunities for improvement.
This policy has important repercussion in all activities involving internal and external stakeholders (interested parties). Specifically, GESAC’s commitment to social responsibility has an impact on internal matters with particular reference to the management of human resources. For years, the company has invested in human capital in the management of change, health, safety and security of its employees. The training and motivation of our resources, internal communications, active assumption of responsibility on the part of personnel, work-place health and safety measures, respect, and preservation of the environment, the reduction of work place accidents and the promotion of equal opportunities all represent diverse, but complementary, aspects of GESAC’s policy of social responsibility in regards to employees.
Even in relations with clients and suppliers is modelled upon the principals of social responsibility which has resulted in the placement of rigid ethical controls of the supply chain, with a rigorous selection process for suppliers and an ongoing effort to continuously improve services especially in response to the needs of disadvantaged airport users.
On a managerial level, in our airport management activities, the quality, safety, security and environmental policy has evolved into highly developed, integrated management systems for Quality and for Health, Safety, Security and Environment. These systems have adopted the most advanced international standards in effect (for example in the case of the monitoring systems for noise abatement).
In order to promote continuous improvement and sustainable and responsible development of the airport, GESAC, in keeping with its role of airport management, requires all other airport operators present in Naples airport to work in respect of this policy and to apply it on a daily basis in the performance of activities.
For GESAC, investing in social responsibility and the sustainable development of the airport signifies investing in the future.
