Naples International Airport, managed by GE.S.A.C. SpA , was the first airport in Italy to undergo privatisation. The airport management company was privatised in 1997 with the acquisition of the majority of shares by BAA , a world leaderin the field of airport management. Gesac, as a BAA wholly owned company, is part of the world’s largest airport management group. On 26 June, 2006, the Consortium known as ADI "Airport Development and Investment Limited", under the leadership of the Spanish Company Ferrovial Group which also includes the Caisse de Dépot et Palcement du Quebec and GIC Special Investments PTE LTD, acquired ownership of the BAA Group. In March 2003 GE.S.A.C. assumed total management of Naples International Airport with a 40 year license valid until 2043. The airport management company is fully responsible for managing the airportand co-ordinating and control activities of all the private operators present in the airport. Gesac, the Naples airport management company, carries out activities in the following sectors: - Maintenance, management and development of the infrastructure and airport systems;
- Co-ordination and control of the quality parameters relatedto all flight operation services;
- Management, co-ordination and controlof passenger boarding and arrival services;
- Airport security and control of passengers and hold baggage;
- Co-ordination and control of handlingactivities related to flight operations;
- Development and control ofthe commercial services provided for airport users;
